Scope of Practice

Ross Harvey
High Performance Coaching

Who I work with

I work with driven professionals, leaders, and high performers who are ready to operate at a higher level, in their career, their business, their health, and their life. My clients are serious, self-aware, and committed to sustained transformation. This is an application-only, private coaching container. Not everyone is a fit, and that is by design.

What I do

I am a high performance and health and wellbeing coach. My work is depth-led, identity-focused, and built around long-term behavioural change and performance elevation.

Within my coaching practice I:

  • Work with clients in a client-centred, adult-to-adult process to identify and achieve self-determined goals related to performance, health, wellbeing, and professional identity

  • Support clients in building internal clarity, emotional regulation, decision-making capacity, and sustained high performance

  • Facilitate exploration of mindset, habits, lifestyle, energy management, sleep, movement, nutrition behaviours, and recovery as they relate to overall performance

  • Help clients develop self-management strategies that create lasting, sustainable behavioural change

  • Offer structured accountability within a defined six-month private coaching container

  • Support clients in implementing guidance already prescribed by their own healthcare professionals

  • Signpost clients, with permission, to credible, evidence-based health and wellbeing resources from nationally and internationally recognised authorities

  • Work collaboratively and refer clients to relevant healthcare professionals where appropriate

What I do not do

In line with UKIHCA professional standards and the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) scope of practice guidance, the following fall outside the boundaries of my coaching practice unless I hold a separate, active qualification and insurance covering that specific area:

  • Diagnosing, assessing, or treating any medical or psychological condition

  • Interpreting laboratory results or clinical medical data

  • Prescribing or recommending specific supplements, medications, or therapeutic interventions

  • Providing specific individual dietary or nutritional advice, including removing food groups or prescribing meal plans

  • Making any claims to prevent, treat, or cure any physical or mental health condition

  • Providing therapy, counselling, or any form of regulated mental health support

If at any point your needs fall outside this scope, I will refer you to the appropriate qualified professional. Your safety and wellbeing are non-negotiable.

Health Coaching within my practice

I incorporate health coaching principles as a recognised and integral element of my high performance coaching offer. This includes coaching conversations around:

  • Sleep quality and recovery

  • Movement and physical performance

  • Energy management and lifestyle habits

  • The impact of health on professional performance and identity

  • Behavioural change strategies related to health and wellbeing

This health coaching element is delivered in full alignment with the UKIHCA Scope of Practice for professional health coaches. I do not provide clinical health advice. I facilitate insight, awareness, and self-determined action.

Professional standards

My practice operates within the following professional framework:

  • Aligned with the UKIHCA Scope of Practice for professional health coaches

  • Guided by the ICF Code of Ethics, which governs my conduct, client relationships, confidentiality, and professional boundaries across all coaching engagements.

  • Guided by the HCPC definition of scope of practice: the limit of knowledge, skills, and experience within which I practise lawfully, safely, and effectively

  • Covered by valid professional insurance appropriate to my coaching scope

  • Committed to ongoing CPD, supervision, and professional development, including progression toward Master Certified Coach (MCC) level

  • Bound by a do no harm mandate across all client interactions, communications, and content

Informed consent and client agreement

Before any coaching engagement begins, clients receive a clear written agreement that sets out:

  • The nature and boundaries of the coaching container

  • What coaching is and what it is not

  • Referral protocols where needs fall outside scope

  • Confidentiality, cancellation, and investment terms

Coaching is a partnership. You bring commitment. I bring depth, standards, and a structured container for transformation.

Collaboration

Where a client's needs extend beyond my scope, I actively seek collaboration with and referral to qualified healthcare professionals including GPs, physiotherapists, nutritionists, dietitians, psychologists, and other relevant practitioners. I am the anchor of a whole-performance approach, not the sole provider of it.
